San Gimignano is located in Italy in the region of Tuscany and since 1990 is considered by UNESCO as cultural heritage of mankind. San Gimignano is a small walled village of medieval origin, erected atop the hills of Tuscany. This town is famous mainly for its medieval architecture especially its towers. In the Tuscan medieval walled villages, wealthy families vied with each other with the erection of towers among highest, symbolized wealth and more power, at the same time the towers served as hostels, strengths and clear, symbols of prestige.
